Question about my intake??? please let me know what you think
Hey i was thinking about taking off the pipe on my intake that brings the filter in the fender. I want to just take off that pipe and bring the filter back into the engine bay again-but while still keeping the midpipe [i thynk thats what you call it] So it will have midpipe with all the hook ups and then the maf then the filter. Will this have any advantages or disadvantages with power ? The main reason i was thinking about doing this was because i really like the way the filter i bought looks and also it is much easier to get to if it is right there in the engine bay. Can there really be that much of colder air down a few inches. If i take that pipe off it will still have that 3inch hole and that will give it some more air also. Also the filter gets much dirtier down in that compartment there. please let me know what you think thanks
umm... yeah... kinda got lost in your essay there... so you just want to use the mid-pipe of your PR style intake right?
not a problem at all... yes, you would get colder air down in the fender and you would gain more (bottom end?) but you would lose (top end?)... with the short ram like you want (if i understood you correctly) then you will have the best of both worlds as some say...
i have this setup... i never wanted to drill the hole, and besides i like how it looks in the engine bay...
as far as PR giving you more bottom, don't quote me bc i cant really remember, but i think thats right... if not, its the other way around compared to the injen style... they are opposite from each other in that aspect i believe...

yeah, cai(pr) is for more low end while hai (injen) is more high end... short ram is in-between...
after reading my first post, i got confused...

It looses a little both top and bottom, but the increase in the midrange is significant. Since most daily driving it in the midrange, it is very popular. There are advocates for all three types. Autos in particular are susceptible to low end loss, so most auto drivers seem to prefer the CAI, with a lesser number relying on the hybrid.
