I'm doing the LED's in my auto climate control. is it a problem to just solder on a resistor to the led and solder that directly onto the board? or do I have to follow the instructions on the 'how-to' using wires and connecting to a 12V source? I'm wondering if there were problems soldering to the board directly, thats why the how-to was done connected to a separate 12V source. i don't want to mess up the climate control because I've already messed up other buttons. can someone give me a clear answer?

leds per the 'how-to' directions?

leds w/ resistor soldered directly to the board?

thanks, Dave.

Follow the method thats been proven to work. Unfortunetly non of us skilled electricians that do this all the time and know the ends and outs of everything..

YES, you can definitely solder directly to the board. I did it and it worked great.

Tips:

You will see tiny parallel lines that are the contacts to the bulbs that twist out. It's not easy to solder onto these as is. What I did was cut a tiny piece of wire to go perpendicular to them and solder that in place. This will give you a very nice solid place to solder the LED with resistor to.

When looking at the BACK of the board... ( the flat edge to the left and the slanted edge to the right ) the contacts on the right of ALL 3 twist out bulbs is positive, the other is negative. Make sure to put the LED in correctly oriented.

Good luck.

The How-to I have has it the way you want to do it http://www.petah.org/maxima/climate.htm. Can you give me a link to your how-to? More info is never a bad thing.

why would you put leds, plasmaglow sells replacement cluster bulbs including the auto climate control so you can change the color of the display without modifying anything. I dont know if thats what you were going to do,

if you need to find a plasmaglow distrub. www.autoaccessorystore.com has them

I don't see them. Could you post a link to the direct swap bulbs?

i finished leds in the climate control. Even though I sanded the leds down, still some hotspots, but overall, at least i can see which button is which in the dark. looks nice with the hazard/defrost led swap.

direct replacement bulbs? if they're not 8-10 bucks a pop like at nissan, show me where.
