Clicking when I turn the steering wheel?

There is a slight ticking when I turn the steering wheel to the left or the right. I just noticed it....I can't tell if its from the steering column inside the car or somewhere outside. I gotta check it out more closely tomorrow. Anyone know what this could be?

Sounds like bad axles, see if the sound is coming from the wheel well area.

Same thing happened to me and mechanic told me it was the axles. Need to change it in near future.

Axles, this is common with FWD cars. At about 100K miles the boots crack and lose the grease, then the universal joints inside go bad. Plan on a $400+ repair unless you want to DIY with some junkyard parts.

clicking sound? or a soft popping sound? popping would signify bad strut bearings.

Yep it is the CV axles, plan on replacing them soon. Get some remanned one for about 150 to 200 each. Oh yeah, do the install yourself it is not worth it when someone else does it for you (like the stealership.. i know from experience!)

It is NOT the CV joints if you only hear the noise as you turn the wheel, CV joints are noisy the whole time you are turning. I believe the clicking you get when turning the wheel are the strut plates are something, this has been discussed b4.

New axles at 97k?? I don't think thats the problem. Its more of a softer clicking, not very loud. I'm going to check it out again in a few.

no, $60 is darn cheap. someone said that it would cost upwards of $400 to get them fixed. that's awfully expensive.

Check the axle boots, if your lucky you'll get off just having to replace those, most likely new axles though... Good luck

Ok after listening to this damn noise a few more times I concluded that it is coming from the wheel well.....and its more of a rubbings/squeaking noise. After I figure out why the CEL is on, I'm taking it to get it looked at.
