Stock SE springs differ....pix to prove so....but I'm still confused

I have 3 sets of stock SE springs;
1996 auto
1998 manual
1999 auto

I have just pulled the 98 and 99 springs of of their boxes to reinstall one set for winter. The rears apear to be the same, but the front are noticebly different. The length of them look the same but the 98's have 1 less coil than the 99. The 96 springs looksimilar to the 99, which leads me to belive that Nissan actually made different front springs for the auto and manual transmissions. One would think they did this to keep the ride the same between models. I also wonder of the spring rate differ between the 2. I dunno its beyond me though I'd sure like to know whats what.

Pic 2..... 98 manual and 99 auto
