Define oil consumption please

Ok I have noticed that if I drive the car very hard, taking it up to redline a lot for 2-3 days 100-150 miles my car consumes some oil. I do not have any visible leaks, no puddles, no wet spots under the car. The only sweat spot I know of is the rear main seal. There are no spots under the hood around the engine etc. I became concered about oil consumption because once when going around a curve my oil light started to flicker. I was due for an oil change since I had hit the 3K mile interval and the oil level was quite low. That was with hard driving. Now a friend of mine a previous service tech for Nissan told me when you're driving your car real hard. It creates a lot of pressure in the crankcase and the oil is burned off thru the intake path which makes sense. But I am concerned about my oil consumption I have never had to put in more than a quarter of a quart but I do check my oil level pretty regularly. I recently did make a switch to the synthetic.. hence my other post.. but the consumption of oil with the light flickering was way before the switch to synthetic. Thanks for any input..

Oil consumtion is bad if it reached more than a QT for 1000 miles

So anything under a QT, Per 1,000 miles is "acceptable"

Now with my car, I drive pretty hard, and I dont burn a drop of Oil between Oil changes...now the VW2.0 I own, burns alittle less than a QT per 1000, witch is acceptable, and is driven like a baby...Two different engines

Oil burning off is ok, but too much is bad. Thats called Blow by, when Oil blows past the rings...Ring Job or new engine

The dipstick may be giving me inaccurate readings but I check it in the morning usually. I did a compression leakdown test maybe 3 months ago about 7K miles ago and my results were 183 psi across all 6 cylinders and it was consistent. So I'm guessing my rings are ok, maybe my valve stem seals as mentioned by a friend of mine but I don't know the signs of the valve stem seals going bad or about to go bad. Another ex. Nissan Service Tech like I mentioned earlier told me that if you drive at high rpms pressure builds inside the crankcase which causes oil to burn off thru the intake path. I haven't added more than 1 quart at one given time but over the past 2000+ miles I've added atleast 1.25 quarts that's with a lot of hard driving and what not. Again the car is not smoking, there are no leaks, the only sweat spot is the rear main seal, oil pressure switch looks new, so I'm still worrying...

look i dont mean to sound mean or anything... but thats what happens when you be the crap out of you car man. These are great motors but they arent indestructible. if you constantly take it to redline things like this are bound to happen. valve seals bleed and piston rings wear out causing oil to go throught the passages and flow to the combustion chamber. take it easy try putting in some heavier oil and dont push the car so much. by the way have
the motor pressure tested it will tell you what condition the rings are in

use synthetic, if you have to add oil add some oil. no biggy if you motor blows up it blows up get a new on. a junk yard VQ is only $300 and $400 for install unless you do it yourself
