Go for the Place Racing CAI (Cold Air-Intake). Its about $200 or so. I think it gives you the most HP.

JWT

I got the JWT because it's almost identical to the stillen and costs only 100 bucks. There is a big debate about weither or not the PR CAI gives better gains that the "pop" intakes, and no one has really proven either way. I just say if it's not proven....go with the cheaper one.
I'm VERY happy with my JWT.

you can check out all the comparo stuff at:

Good luck with you decision.

I went with the Ractive Heat Shield Filter. I was more than impressed. The sound was great(baby V8 growl) and I noticed, along with a lot of others, a noticable power difference.

Just my 2 cents

do you guys have any pictures of the different modifications. If the intakes are so similar then the look would be the deciding factor. thanks

With these installations, will the intake remove the entire OEM intake and not just the air box. I am trying to clean up the engine bay, less plastic would look the best.

Save your money and do the Poorman's CAI 2.0 (OSCAI) for about $20. Dyno proven on my car to make the same hp and torque as my HKS POP style intake. If you really want to spend the money, then get the PR CAI because it looks nice. Lots of people say the PR CAI makes more power and torque than the POP setup, but it has NEVER been proven to do so. It's all heresay and "butt-dyno" results which are absolutely worthless in my book.

I recommend against the underhood intakes because they pump in a lot of hot air in the warmer weather therefore making less power than the stock setup. Contray to popular belief, the stock Maxima intake is actually a very nice setup once you remove the resonatos and add some other intake hoses.

I'd say save the $220 you'll spend in the intake and put it towards a real mod, the Y-pipe.

Anyone know if "universal" three inch filters work? I have been looking at white, chrome, and carbon fiber capped universal cone filters made by Aerospeed or AC.. and what are the dimensions for the Cone Filter on a 98 MAX? thanks

you can remove just the airbox, and if you want you can remove the intake tubing that starts just over the radiator.
I left the intake portion on because that will still collect cooler air and directs it underneath the JWT air filter. Might save you some hp.
