Slipping clutch Due to wheather? or Oil?
Slipping clutch????
Hello All,
I just left the house about less than an hour ago it was the first time driving the car today, shes been in the garage monday 3pm.
When just starting to drive and taking a few corners, when shifting I felt the car jerking some, and I knew I wasnt shifting improperly so I knew something was wrong. It would do this jerk on just about ever shift. So I performed a test to see if the clutch is slipping (A friend told me about this).
I just hit 2nd gear, was driving (straigh road), hit 3K and normally would shift to 3rd but I was told shift to 5th and the rpms just drop and takes a while to rev back up clutch is normal, but if you feel shaking and anything out of the normal then your clutch is slipping. After doing this the car jerked and it seemed as thought the clutch was slipping.
Now a bit aggrivated, the shifts got better after about 10 minutes of driving and there wasnt any slipping occuring, its like it went away as the car warms up. Now I've been driving her for a year and she's never done that before in any cold condition (73 degrees here in atlanta). Can this be summed up to cold wheater? a warming up thing? I looked at the tranny and didnt see any sweat spots, and I dont have any tools nor lift to take off the tranny, to get a better look. Is it possible that maybe their is oil being leaked onto the clutch and the oil just got burned up as I drove?
I did smell a burning like smell at one point, wasnt sure if it was transit bus or me, and I had oil spill n the clutch before (diff bearing and input shaft failure) and it didnt slip at all then.
thanks for the help.
and sadly I dont have much money right now to take the car to a mechanic or shop to get them to diagnose, so I figured I would come here for some advice or see if anyone has any helpful info or same experience. thanks.

i once had a slipping clutch. changed it with a new clutch kit from nissan and its fine now. my problem was was i went into 1st and gassed it. the rpm would jump then it would drop and start pulling. I would suggest you change your clutch but i was running my 96 max for atleast 8k before i changed my clutch. hope that helps
From what I know, I don't think what you are experiencing is a slipping clutch. My clutch was slipping a couple weeks ago before I put in my new one, and you'll know it when your clutch starts to slip. The rev meter will just shoot way up, then come back down if you put just about any pressure on the gas.
I think the way to test for a slipping clutch is to let the car slow down to 45 in 5th gear, then mash the throttle. The car should shutter or slip if the clutch is bad. If the car picks up speed smooth the clutch is fine.
thanks for the imput so then the buckling may be due to something else?
I'll test your method PLUMMAXSE and see if it doesnt the slipping again, I'll let you guys know what happens.
