trouble starting up car

Lately, I have been having some problem starting up the car. It doesn't happen all the time. Just enough to annoy me. I turned the key, it had some sound like it's going to start, but didn't. I had to do the three times before it would start. Also, I had to give it some gas for it to start. It's almost like if I take out the fuel pump fuse and try to start the car. I have the yellow top Optima battery. I'm sure it's still good. I can't be sure though. I had it for about 3 years now. Could my starter be going? How can I check? Ideas?

if the motor cranks its obviously not a starter problem try checkin for spark and ur fuel pressure. i recently went to the stealer with my car and they said our cars are notorious for bad fuel injectors

Could it be the spark plugs? I'm using the copper plugs. When I was using the platinum plugs, I never had a starting problem.

Check the common problem of the maxima

http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/u...ex.cfm/id/2214

Injectors on my 95 went bad around 85K miles. It is a known problem. The dealer want $1,500 to replace all. I bought the parts ($80 each), a book from Pepboy showing pictures how to do it. The three in the front is as easy as changing spark plugs, but the three n the rear is a lot more difficult. I had to pop the manafold. The book on Maxima areally helped.

I have a lot of starting problem on my Maxima too.

I would definitely recommend switching back to platinum plugs either way, since it does have platinum NGKs stock (i think thats what they are?)
