Squeaky clutch pedal

Hey guys,

I have a 5spd 96 Max, and lately when I push the clutch pedal in or release it, it squeaks in a very annoying manner. It doesnt squeak when full disengaged or fully engaged, only during the pedal travel. As far as I can tell, something needs to be lubed or something right at the pedal, but the squeak also sounds like it could be coming from somewhere in the engine bay too or something. Maybe I'm just imagining things, but let me know if there is anything I can do

It helps to get a friend to listen while you move the pedal. Most likely locations are at the slave cylinder where it attaches to the clutch fork, or in the pedal linkage under the dash. Don't use something thin like WD-40. Use a fairly stiff grease like moly grease. Good luck.

Yep, get down under the dash and pus some silicone type grease in the moving parts. There is a spring and the shaft.

Would this also apply to a squeaky brake pedal as well?

Ha! Thanx guys, I've been having this problem too, but I got used to it over time and I've grown accustomed to it. I got a tube of grease in the garage, I'm gonna give it a try tomorrow morning. Thanx

I have the same problem too! my clutch pedal squakes and I'm glad I read this cause I was thinking of spraying it with WD-40, but I have some silicone in a spray can I will try that in an hour and post back.

it rose from the dead like thriller!

I have this issue too I'll post a sound clip of my pedal, its scary sounding. I belive a silicon spray is the best type to use and I believe you just spray the pring not the whole firewall down there but I'd like a second oinion (no wd-40 either)

I guess the silicon greese worked listed above? but no one replied back. just need to find out what type of greeese with work, then apply to the spring and your shaft
