36mm = 1.5 inch socket?

I can't find a 36mm socket anywhere. I was told over the phone by some guy at Ace Hardware that after 30mm the mesurments for socket sizes are in inches? Is this correct?

Go to AUTOZONE - you can buy one there for about 17$ supposing you want to own it or you could rent it through their rent-a-tool program where you put down a deposit (i think its like 15 bucks) and you can rent it for an unlimited amount of time.

Inch to metric = mm's X 25.4

36 divided by 24.5 = 1.46

Will probably work just fine if the socket is a 6 point.

I picked up a 36mm socket at Sears for $6.99. It's a 12 point, 1/2 drive socket.

1-7/16 would be a little large, but a lot closer than 1-1/2.

I try not to mix metric and standard too much. Stripped too many bolts that way. The best way is the correct way. Since our Max's ask for metric...I always just go buy the sockets I need. Not like you're only gonna use them once. lots of bolts to mess with on a maxima

Thanks for the advise - I called Autozone and they do have the socket. As I mentioned in my PM though, I'm holding off the project for now (CV Joint replacement).

A good socket conversion chart helps with finding what fits. They were hard to find back then I guess.

Even now, when you try to look it up in search, you find wrench/bolt stuff instead.

For future reference, a 1 7/16 socket works on the 36mm, if you have one.

You can get anything on Amazon now... Just gotta have some patience! And PRIME helps keep it cheaper! (free shipping)

32MM and 36MM Sockets are quite popular and cover the majority of Asian and American cars.... And the HIGH majority of them have front wheel drive and CV axles with said size HUB nuts.
