Tighten the steering wheel?

Is it possible to tighten the steering wheel so it's not so loose? I've been driving rentals for about a month and the cars, which were obviously much newer than my 95 Max, had much tighter steering wheels. Is that possible? If it is, what are the pros and cons of doing so? Thanks!

Energy Suspension Bushings. Do them all and your problem will be as gone as it can be. Seems us early fourth gen people have more issues than the better power steered 99's. Check courtesynissan.com for the bushings. All told its less than $100 and you have much tighter and quicker response.

It's just how our cars are...no you can't "tighten" the steering wheel.

so no one has used rack and pinion from 99 to 95-96? or even seen both side by side to see if there is much difference to mod to make it fit?

i hate that too. after driving a new taurus in florida for a week, i got into my car and almost wrecked because i wasn't used to such a loose steering wheel. too many deadspots in that rack.

IMO Energy Suspension made the biggest over all stiffening of the steering feel.

I love my steering compare to before.

RSB and Ftsb didn’t give me all that much difference in normal cruising.

Cost over 150 to install to my surprise!

The bushings do away with all the nasty squishy rubber bushings. Urethane can be made to be much stiffer.
