life expectancy of front Rotors

this will also depend heavily on how you drive, mine warped after a month of owner ship at around 65k, i had them turned and had warped them again by 75k bought new ones and had issues at 85k had them turned and now im haveing issues at 90k. im harder on my brakes than most, but as soon as i find another job im going to replace my calipers rotors and pads in one swoop.
i have also heard that if you run your brakes hard and then run through a puddle you can warp your rotors, but that is only hearsay, i dont know how true it is.
good luck

If youre not harsh on your brakes and you replace your pads regularly (as when they start squeaking). They should last at least 100,000 mi.
205,000 is a lot for pads. My moms old car was '90 mazda 626 in which she had the original pads (abestos) for 95,000 miles. Then had them switched to non abestos since its illegal to have abestos and started replacing them every 20k. On this 626 the original rotors lasted 145,000mi (90% city driving).

if you dnot nail the brakes, ie try to stop on a dime going 70 mph, they should be fine. if you tr to stop too fast, you may risk warping them, i bought mine from strauss for $20 a piece, seemed likea good deal instead of paying a shop 15$ a piece to resurface. i gotta do the fronts soon.

What exactly does turning the rotor do? and how often should it be done?
I am on the same rotors since 96, no problems no warping, breaking is fine, pedal is starting to get a little soft but I know my pads are going down, other than that all is fine.

Home made way to check your rotors:
Jack up a wheel. Spin the wheel. if you feel binding that slows or stops the spinning of the wheel then your rotors are probably warped.
You can also wait for a rainy day. Wait for a little film of rust to form on the rotor. Then drive forward about 10 feet with your feet on the brakes (lightly) and see if there are any spots on the rotor that are still rust covered.

Just a quick bit of advice... when you're coming to a stop, say at a stoplight, stop about a foot or two short, then after a few seconds, move forward a foot. This will help to distribute the heat that's being transferred between your rotors and your pads, and will help to prevent warping. This was something I ended up getting into the habit of doing when I used to drive a Grand Am. Those rotors were really cheap and ended up warping after less than 6 months. After getting them turned, they ended up warping again less than a year later. I'm way more aggressive with the brakes on my Max, and so far, no warped rotors. Since I bought my Max used, I have no idea how old they really are, but if the amount of rust buildup on the outer area of the rotor is any indication, they are probably the originals. I'm at 100,000 miles, btw.

they grind them down so they are smooth and even the whole way around. i just have mine done when they get warped.

Will warped rotors makes the tires sound unbalanced? Like Mudswampers?
I ask because the maxima's ride quality goes down the crapper every time I drive it. Feels like unbalanced tires, but they have 90% tread / perfect wear / and I just had them rotated and balanced. Also, the car rode just fine for 6 months until recently and nothing has been touched on the suspension or wheels except for rotating them, which didn't help at all.
From 60-80 mph the steering wheel shakes. Any sort of braking, even just letting off the accellerator (it seems) makes it 10X worse.

Actually, I find that OEM factory rotors are very good quality. How can you argue with some people going over 100K with originals? I resurfaced mine along with new OEM pads when My car had 116K on it, and they still had meat left on the pads.

My Car now has 231,000 miles on the original rotors, and I have never turned or resurfaced the rotors.
I have gone through about 5 sets of brake pads front and rear (at different times), but I also always replace them just after they are half worn with Nissan OEM pads.
