frankencar intake

i have a 97 maxima se and i installed a frankencar intake, BUT my car got slower! some say it has to do with the tempurature sensor that used to be in the plumbing of the factory intake. anyone with similar problems or even better yet, a solution to this?

In that thread there's a link to another thread on a honda forum...read the first two pages of that thread.

if you increase intake, you'll need to increase exhaust. get a y-pipe and a staight b-pipe non crushed with resonator, keep stock muffler.

That whole concept is . Our ECU doesn't adapt like other ECU's do.

Please explain why it's and why our ECUs don't adapt like others do.

Our ECUs, like all OBD-II ECus are constantly learning and adjusting (within certain, tight parameters).

I'm not saying the ECU doesn't adapt. Read my post again. I said that it doesn't adapt like other ECU's do. What i meant by that is resetting the ECU doesn't have effect that most people on here think it does. All resetting the ECU does is cause the car's performance to worsen marginally while it relearns stored information. When it relearns it it's back to square one. It might feel like it's performing better, but that could be attributed to 1. the modification itself 2. placebo effect or 3. what i mentioned earlier. The HP swing is negligable. There's no dyno proof to back up the theory that it helps performance.

I just installed the Franken car/K&N this afternoon, my first mod. The sound is sweet and noticed a very modest gain, easy install as well and freed engine compartment from that stock intake clutter. I did reset the ecu after instalation- No problems yet as of yet.
