cv joint carrier bearing

cv joint carrier bearing

does anybody now how to break the carrier bearing loose on the passenger side on a 95 se auto. I got the 3 bolts out easy it just doesn't want to break loose thinkin about puttin the torch to it but I might destroy the bearing as well.

The two steel parts often fuse themselves together. I took a chisel (and then a flat head screwdriver) to the crack that separates the two and gradually worked them apart. Took me a blasted hour though!

I just went through that last week. Try wd40 and then work it loose. Oil it when you put it back together for next time.

what about pulling the passenger side first on the joints or does it not matter can I pull either side. Chilton's says you have to pop the driver side through the transfer case from the other side seems like a pain.

Pry really hard, it's a PITA to get apart. Use a hammer and a chissel if needed to break it loose.
