How long does my clutch have?

Yesterday I noticed for the first time that my clutch was slipping in 5th gear. I have to go on a 6 hour roadtrip in 5 days, and I am coming back 2 days later. Will my Max be OK on this roadtrip, or should I get the clutch replaced before then? If I have to get the clutch replaced now, I will have to get the parts from the dealer (more $$$), so I would rather wait and save some money.

if its slipping in 5th then I would recommend making the trip, cause you'll be in 5th the whole way (most of it anyway) and you dont want the clutch to burn up and die 3 hrs into the road trip.

on the positive side if you get a new clutch you have to break it in for 500 miles, a 6hr road trip you would have broken it in.

as of right now, its only slipping a little. if i am cruising at 75mph, the rpm's are at about 3000. if i floor it, it slips until about 3500 rpm's, then catches and goes back down. i dont think this is that severe, and i know i shouldn't take any chances, but i only need it to last for like 1000 more miles.

eventually it wil get worse and worse....you should be okay as long as you dont keep letting it slip, if you still floor it after it slips like you said above it burns the clutch out a lot quicker, what that is doing is kinda like giving it gas and holding the clutch to the point of barely griping for a while, over and over again.

my got to the point of not catching over a couple of hours started sliping in fourth all of sudden use to grab perfect and then deteriated i would get it replaced asap if it wears to much your gonna need a new flywheel very expensive.

it's going to be ok for the next 1k miles if you don't floor your car like crazy. my cluth was slipping few weeks ago, i ordered the spec stage 2 and stillen flywheel at that slippage timing. two weeks after, i am still driving the slippin clutch. it got worse, but i learned to drive slowly and try not to let it slip. lasted me till the clutch and flywheel arrived. replaced, and everything went fine after all.

my clutch slipped because i raced my younger brother (got a 96 auto maxima). i was launching at 2k rpm then floor it to 6k. the front tires didn't grip and spinned long enough till i shift into 2nd gear flooring the pedal again. this time, the rpm stayed at 6k rpm and didn't come down. the car didn't get to accelerate because the whole time the clutch was slippng and grinding on the flywheel. i got smoked and the clutch was pretty much toasted. i drove with clutch slippage on all gears. the bigger the gear, the more slipping. i couldn't even run against a stock 4 door civic at the time. it was pathetic.
