Whoa this sucked...(story)

Ya so the last few mornings my car started wouldn't start my car in the morning... i would hit the button and i would go outside after 5-7 mins to find my car not even started...whihc i had no problem with because i was just assuming that my starter for the remote start wasn't tuned for the winter, along with i was gonna bring it to best buy this weekend....so i just let it go due to the fact that it would start just fine when my car was warm or it hasn't been cold out.. But today, i just go out of work... and i hit my remote start, to hear that same clicking noice so i just ingnored it again assuming that it just happened because it was cold out. so i unlock it and hop in...turn my car on to get NOTHING.....turned it off, make sure i didn't leave the lights on....noticed that the dome light was on...so i tested my head lights Check. that worked so i new that it wasn't my battery, i try to turn it on with my car starter again nothing, so then i go and pop the hood and look down to see if i can see anythign wrong...i dunno why??? but i did..and then i called my dad to call AAA so they can help me... the tow truck came. he tested out everything...also thought tat it was the starter, geting ready to tow it and then my dad pulls up...he tells my dad where they are towing it, we follow them and get a price on how much it was to fix it...they said it was like 190 and it will be done first thing tommorrow morning.....and it will be done buy 1200...so my quesiton to you is how does a starter die??? was it my fault??? or does this happen to all cars???

just because your headlights turn on dont rule out the battery dying problem... It could have enough juice to turn on your lights just not turn that starter...

It probably is a dead starter tho, trying smashing it with something hard and turning it see if it cranks.. then just replace it.. very simple to do.. 2 bolts..

You said clicking. My friend's grand am wasn't starting so we went out and looked at it and when he turned the key all there was was clicking. Everyone thought it was the starter including me but it was just the battery. Something to consider.

well right now my car is getting fixed...its gonna cost me 278 bucks with tax and labor, but c the hole problem is that i don't have the time to do it right now... because i have to go to school and straight to work until 5:00 and when i get home its dark and then i have to do this college **** and get my rents off my back about that aswell, so i sent it to the garage took the day off to finsih this college crap so in one way it did work out......but i dun think it could of been the battery due to the fact that in sept i had both my battery and my alternator die on me(the alternator wasnn't chargeing the battery properly so that in turn killed the battery) so i got that fixed with a brand spanking new battery and 2 new alternators (one from the private dealer i bought it from and one from the stealership, because of the recall on the alternators on my year
