Oil dripping from spark plug

I have searched the FAQ's and the last 10 pages and have not found anythng on this problem. I was changing my plugs and standing in front of the engine the back right plug after removal had oil dripping from it. I cleaned out the plug hole with a paper towel and put in the new plug. I know that is a short term fix but what is the problem and how do I diagnose it farther.

Thanks

Frank

You have bad blow by, you may need new rings. Maybe.

It's definately not a good sign.

Or it could just be the valve cover seal over that particular spark plug hole.

no this is not too bad. You just have a bad O ringon your valve cover. I rolled like this in my car for a couple years. Any oil that would get to the plug due to blowby would be burned.

I had the same problem. Turned out it was the oil seal on the valve cover.

For me the o-ring was very difficult to get out. I ended up ripping it and couldn't get the rest out. I left it and used RTV to seal it up. All is working fine so far.
