Sunroof

So my 96's sunroof was tilted open, now it wont close.

I can hear the motor running, so I ordered/installed a new switch.

Nothing....... before it rains...

THANKS!!!!!

Can't you use the manual key to wind it shut (remove the access cover, i.e. map lights trim and you'll see what I mean)... the hex wrench/key that fits should be included in the little tool kit in your trunk.

Did it work or are you assuming it will...?

I was thinking further about this, and wondered if that manual crank will work - since if the motor is still turning, it means somehow the sunroof drive has become disengaged from the motor... it just depends on where that crank fits into the mechanics of the system....

HA HA HA,
I have not tried yet. There has to be a way to get it to close...

I would rather find a repair though....

Go try it - first make sure you can get it closed temporarily- then worry about the repair

Its working!
I manually closed it with the crank under the dome light/sunroof switch panel.

Then it worked great. Then it stuck open again. So I closed it, tried again.
So now I will just keep the wrench in the center arm rest till I find the repair

Someone posted a tip about the tracks and a rebuild kit in your duplicate thread... follow up on that... but glad you were able to get the roof closed... sounds like some kind of stopper or pin has come out - so it can push the roof open but when it tries to pull it shut the drive is slipping.
