what type of paint?

Hello

All Planning on painting the interior of the max, dash console etc. and I am trying to find out was is a good paint to use? I have been told (by an associate at work, who did this to his car) to use latex vinyl paint with gloss. Is this a good type of paint to use? His interior looks pretty good (I'll take pics and post tommorow) and am planing the same thing.

There were a couple org members who had done this an it looked sick.

thanks

I'd rather avoid the shop, as I know exactly how to do it, and will have some time off comming soon, and would spend it doing the interior.

plus I know what a decent place will cost and, I could do it for hundreds cheaper, that means new exhaust (goodbye stock)

Sorry but you do use latex-based vinyl paints. You cannot pick this up from a local hardware store, but Pepboys may have some in stock. Otherwise try www.jcwhitney.com And a word to the wise, prepping is very important if you want it to stick.

thank you very much, I went to home depot, and check with Lowes on line and they didnt have any and so wanted to make sure that I had to correct type of paint. Will check with Pep Boys for the paint.

Yes I've been told (and know) prep work is the most crucial part. When it come times to paint I will take out piece by piece and sand them down well so the paint will adhere properly. Primer isnt need in this case right?

just checking. . .

will post pics when I complete.

You shouldn't need primer, just make sure the surface is rough (sanding is good).
Good luck!

Sweet I thought so but wanted to make sure, I will sand it down good, take all the old shine off and probably put down about 4 or 5 coats.

thanks again.

I used a sandable primer, because I wanted the best finish, then sanded, then used rustoleum metallic silver, and everything turned out great...no chips whatsoever. Just check out my cardomain to see the interior!

thats look good, thanks for the info I will keep that in mind.

I'm scheming on a way to put my name on the dash board, probably will print out my text, tape it on, sand carefully around it, paint it and take it off. Looking forward to doing this, will probably do this around christmas, i will have many days off then.
