Fuel pump control module
What does this little guy do? I'm throwing a code for it and am in the process of getting another one - but what could make this go bad and throw a code for it? I'm trying to see if it's tied into another underlying problem. Other codes I have are
Right bank lean/ KS code ---> This is due to an exhaust leak before the turbo.
Map/Baro Switch 1302 - don't know why this is happening - i've tried 2 different solenoids already. Just wondering though - does the nut that holds this piece to the vacuum system act as a ground?...

What code are you getting? P1220?
On the 96 max, and apparently 97s as well, Nissan used a FPCM to reduce the voltage, via a dropping resister, to the fuel pump under certain conditions. The ecu looks for a "check" voltage from the FPCM. If it does not get the voltage in the specified range, it throws the P1220 code.
I picked up a FPCM and dropping resistor from my local wrecking yard for $20CDN. Dealer wanted over $300CDN for the pair. I have a 98 with a 96 ECU so I needed these parts to get rid of the code.
These parts are located in your left rear quarter panel. You have to remove the trim panel to get at them.
You should do some troubleshooting with a voltmeter before buying any parts.
