Full Stillen Kit Install
hey, the link is down for this in the how-tos, has anyone painted and installed their own stillen kit...installation seems so easy, just drill em onto the body wit self tapping screws....but as far as painting em? i wanna do this myself, my car is black, not hard to match the color, but what should i used to primer, paint, and clear coat my bodykit? and i heard since its urethane i have to primer by hand....i dont mind....i just looked at the kit (just got it in the mail) and said to myself "why the f do i need to pay someone to put this on my car?", god forbid my kit is a little less than perfect, its at the bottom of the car anyway.....if this is a repost, (cuz i dont look through all the org threads from the beginning of time to make sure it wasnt mentioned before) link me to the original thread.....thanks.....
id rather do all this myself....so let me know fi youve done this before, the drilling is more common sense its the painting i need some help wit, and mine are slightly used but they are painted blue, im going black wit em....

you guys have to be joking... unless you have a professional spray gun, the proper paint/prep tools and a booth you will be making a huge mistake!
pay out the $300 and have it sprayed by a professional. Otherwise your car is gonna look like $hit.

1. First thing you should do is put the kit in your car.
2. Next Drive to a reputable body shop.
3. Remove the kit from the car.
4. Tell technician/person at counter you want your kit painted Black/White
5. He will give you a price.
6. You say Thanks, and ask when you can pick it up
7. Go home happy you'll have a nice painted kit
8. Pick up kit X days later
9. Put it on and enjoy the car.

install is really simple, just take your time. as for the paint i had a friend paint it in his booth, didnt prime just light prep work and it came out really good. are you guys lowered? i have eibachs and i have scraped a couple times though it could be avoided by never driving...hahaha

the back piece looks easy, u take the mudflaps off and some other plastic cover there, and (well ive seen someon raise the car to do this, not sure u need to though) and just drill it in, it slides into, or fits into something and u drill it in....

well. installation is easy. i bought double sided tape. most people say it ownt hold but i had no problem at all with it. just use screws on the side and it will hold the kit. same as with the sides and rear. i didnt paint my kit though and it is on my car. the reason for that is i am going to make it fulsh with the bumpers and the fenders also. it will look better like that. and if you are going to use double sided tape and put the kit on, it is going to be hard to remove all the tape. so the other alternative is to get the kit painted first. mnake sure to color match it to the car and then put it on.

I had my kit riveted on.. everyone says don't do it.. but i said **** it.. and it saved my kit from falling off on the highway when i ran over something

yo dude paintworldinc.com has colormatched spray paint. cost more than paint from autozone or wutever, but trust me its good shiet. painted my kit for my civic and it was as good as any body shop job. test fit it first and drill holes where u need it. wipe down really good with tacky cloth. couple coats of sems plastic primer to make sure its on there. i did 3 coats of paint, wetsanded 2000grit, 3 coats of clear, wetsand and use 3m polishing compound to take out 2000grit. total cost was around 60bux for materials. i never got any negative comments on the job. looked just like it came stock with the car.

The install is easy, the paint job is the most important part.
