when I accelerate from a dead stop, i punch it in first without any problem, but in second as I revv up, this noise comes from the middle of the dash...like a rattling noise of some sort...it doesnt affect performance as far as I can see, but anyone else have this problem or know what it can be?

I get rattling around 3400rpm, under load, in 2-5th gear. Roughly same place as yours. My first thought was a y-pipe banging something. I haven't verified it yet as I rarely stay at 3400rpm.
