CV Joint Squeek & Brake Problem?

Dear Org.

About a month ago, I had my CV joint, axle replaced by Pep Boys. They installed one with abs, & no limited slip, and changed the wheel bearings.

I have a 1999 SE-Limited fully loaded. I've been having the following problems:

(1) A slight squeek every 2 seconds while driving
(2) The car pulls to the right while excelerating
(3) Steering wheel moves back and forth

The my car initially made loud grinding noises while braking. I took it back to Pep Boys and they cut my rotor, and told me to change the pads. Well I changed the pads, and now my steering wheel moves back and forth about 5 degrees left and right while driving.

Can anyone help me diagnos this?

cv joints

The first problem you have is your dealing with pep boys unqualified personal. Did they even align the car after they changed the axle if not it's gonna pull. That's to much stuff that has been pulled apart without realignment.

No they did not re-align the car. I did get the feeling that the mechanics at Pep Boys were incompetant.

Pep Boys

I asked them if I need an alignment and they said, "Not on the Maxima"

I speak from experience my brother used to bring his max there. Then he would have to bring it back again and again almost to the point of wearing out a set of tires going back and forth. Sure enough this is the max I end up with and I am still chasing their screw ups I don't even think they are a.s.e. certified. You need to cut all ties with pep boys!

In fact I wouldn't go to any mechanic 'chains'. They see so many customers per day, they can't possibly be doing quality work on the vehicles they service. Go get an alignment from a small professional business that has A.S.E certified (master) technicians. You'll get a more personal experience, most likely a better diagnosis of problems, and better quality.

Pep boys sounds like a place with a bunch of 15 yr old acne riddled interns, who get minimum wage from fat louie who sits in the back of the shop watching tv and eating hoagies........ ehh ok I went too far but you get the point.

I would take the car to get a professional 4 wheel alignment at a reputable shop and state exactly what pep boys did. Then tell them after you picked up the car the steering wheel was moving back and forth and your other problems. They should be able to tell what they screwed up. Then if you paid with a credit card you can have them stop payment if it's not to late. You just have to have another shop document the crap work that they did. The alignment shop should be able to handle this for you. I had to do this in florida when I brought my accord to a euro car specialist that tried to get cute, funny and fresh with me didn't work though!!

i changed my driveaxel myself; didnt need an alignment. Im thinking they put the wrong one on there. Are you sure you have abs?...a lot of people with maximas that i talk to dont have it.

Here, u can check on this link to see if u have abs:

http://www2.maximumautoparts.com/par...ionType=Manual

..then again, it might not matter if u had abs(since i think the only differnce is the sensor on the axel)

..i doube u have limited slip, but u can always jack the front of the car, have it in gear, spin the front tires..if they spin in opposite directions, then u do not have it. If they spin in the same direction, u have limitd slip.

im just laying out some info that might be helpful...does sound like an alignment issue, but it sholdnt be
