I went through the same thing, a VSS code after replacing the sensor. I was able to fix it by taking out the instrument cluster and re-tightened speedometer screws. I don't know if this works for you, but it costs nothing and it is worth trying.

If this doesn't fix the problem, it may be something between speedometer and VSS. I tried this one first because there is a TSB on this (broken wire connection) and replaced a portion of VSS wire, but VSS code kept coming back.

In the worst case you may need to replace the entire cluster. I know at least one .org member fixed the problem this way.

I get this stupid code after it rains. Must be an exposed wire or something.

I suppose it's possible. After all it's all electrical and hopefully your problem will disappear once it's cleared....

I have this code too, I just reset the ECU and it stays off for about 2 months before it comes back. Everything seems to work so I haven't fixed it. Some people have said it may affect cruise control but I don't use it so haven't noticed.

It's not serious, just a nuissance to see the SES light.
