Almost everytime I start my car it makes this awful grinding/screeching noise. I just had the starter replaced thinking this was the culprit, yet its still there. Has anyone else ever experienced this? What else could it be?

 

screeching like a belt screeching? or screeching like the starter screeching? my starter makes noise when I start up, theres a procedure to fix it by lubing it up

 

Did you replace the starter yourself?

 

Might be a slipping belt or the alternator....

 

Where did you get the replacment starter from? I recently replaced my starter for the second time in about 5 years. The starter pep boys gave me turned out to be bad and I had to go back and get a new one. It could still be your starter.

 

I had it done at my local gas station, Iv had work done there before. And the screeching doesnt sound like a belt, and its been the same through 2 starters, so im assuming that thats not it.
