I have short ram Intake from ebay, really cheap only cost me 50 bucks and it has the hissing sound. I love it, and so does anyone else that hears it.

mm..i got JWT Pop-Charger, and i think its da BOMB

A: it does have the "hissing" sound, not as much but you can hear it.
B: Engine sounds normal until 3.5K RPM, after that its a Beast
C: Very easy to install
D: (nothing to do w/Maxima, but still nissan, JWT Pop-Charger had biggest gain in HP @the wheels for 350z out of diff. other intakes)

If you want a hissing sound I say puncture a hole in the piping and reverse a whistle u'll get alot of hissing. Especially when u accelerate. Saw a honda do it of course(RICE). Other than that a place racing cold air intake does a little hissing not super loud or anything.

is the filter worth it? it looks to be, but $130 is pretty costly... i need a bracket to hold up my short ram now and it comes with one, so it would kinda solve that problem and get some gains as well... ??? what you think?

I would get a basic short ram intake off of ebay. Or you can make your own. Intakes aren't really a source of power so I wouldn't look to far into it.

I have a frankencar hybred with K&N. The sound is a very nice raspy grumble, especially pulling to pass a car, the 3000+ rpm range, and noticed a modest power gain. It looks good and clean and it is very easy to install. I'd highly recomend it.
