Aftermarket taillights

I got a nice set of used taillights for my 95. I went to put them in only to find the inner taillights didn't fit (Short). The housing says 95 max on it as does the box. I know my car had bodywork done on it before I bought it because the spoiler wasn't installed correctly. Anybody have any taillight pics so I can identify what year trunk lid they put on my car. Now I'm stuck with 95 tails I can't use (Bummer)

What type of tail lights did you buy? Like the OEM ones?

The difference between 95-96 trunk and 97-99 trunk is the big line the 95-96's have. Look at my trunk, I have a 97-99 trunk and its completely flat. Compare yours to that.

The lights I bought are blacked out with a round red light in each the inner and outer lights. I saw a 95 that was forsale with them and I thought they looked sharp(made the car look newer) anyhow the guy sold the car and the new owner didn't want them so he sold them to me for $80.
Your trunk lid looks like mine. I'm pretty sure I have a 97-99 trunk lid. Just makes me angry I didn't know.

That would be a 97-99 trunk lid.

95-96:

Wait, so a 95 max can have a 97-99 trunk(stock, without modifications)? Cuz I have a 95 max with a flat trunk and the regular 95-96 tail lights(the ones where the clears are about the red). Sorry, I'm new to the max world, I just got mine like two months ago.

Yup the trunks are interchangable... everything is the same. You may want to change your rear bumper too, the 97-99 is about an inch longer but everything bolts on.

There are some minor details that match each one, but no one would notice but a maxima enthusiast.
