I dont know how many of you all will believe me, especially with the recent thread about bogus stories, i raced a late model Stang and won twice and lost once. the first race we were slowing down and he looks over and grins. we then rolled the stopsign and took off, i pulled 1/2 car ahead and stayed like that up to 70. second stopsign, we roll it again and exact same thing happens but we go up to 90. third stopsign, we fully stop and then go, he jumps me 1/2 a car length and he stays ahead up to 100 again. overall, i am very pleased with the turnout, he never looked at me from then on. i thought the new v8 stangs were something but they can only take you on the line, maybe 100+, havent tried. i think im going to start instigating more fights with some GT's. im not sure if he was an auto or not though.

My buddy has a late model GT auto, and I wasn't very impressed. We raced a couple times on the freeway, and I kept up or even pulled ahead a little up to about 90+mph, then he beat me. I'm sure the 5 speed would be a different story though.

true, it must of had been an auto then, i expected to be toast but after the first run, decided to keep on racing. im sure a 5spd GT would smoke me all around.

Yeah I've seen 0-60 in 5.5 and 1/4 in 13.9 from new 5spd GT's, but I've heard a lot of disheartening things about the auto GT's, I think Ford really goofed on that tranny then.

Well good kills!

I took out a 5.0 Mustang LX last fall, so it's very believable. That thing was LOUD, so I know for sure it was modded, and it was stick, because I could obviously hear it. I've never smoked the tires into second as much as I did that day..WEEEEE!!!!

Mystikal but the old 5.0's were a heavy castiron engine that only made 200. The new aluminum modular ford engine makes like 265, and the whole car is a lot lighter.

I'd like to see how we fare against a new 5spd GT.
