i put them in yesterday, not as hard as i imagined, i did have a long extension. believe it or not, i can feel better response to say the least. question for race engine experts: when indexing the spark plugs, what position should the plugs be in for the highest gain? good one a.

plug indexing

The idea of indexing is to get the open part of the plug facing the intake manifild ports. The hard part is finding where they are, you really cant tell by looking at it, you need something like a shop book with pictures of the intake and heads. If you find out let me know, Good Luck

the inake valves..

are next to the intake manifold. i found out this, mark the open side of the electrode,at the base of the porcelan, with a marker, not black though it may draw electric.,this mark has to face the intake side of the head, which is facing in towards the engine intake manifold. in otherwords, the mark should face the intake manifold, or the open side of the electrode should be facing the intake manifold which is on the inside of the engine and not towards the outside of the engine.but i heard this is only for 1000's of a second gains.it could take u from 13.000 to 12.999 or 14.000 to 13.999 , but if u have the time might as well do it.gonna need a flashlight to see in there, and also if the mark don't line up, gonna need spark plug washers to fit the plug. side gapping is interesting also, they cut the band at the curve and gap the band to the side of the electode, this puts an open flame to the intake. but they said this is only nessaccary when the piston is closing the gap on the plug. cause the gains aren't worth the trouble, again for high comp. racers going for 5-6 secs. then it is worth it, but if u like working on the car might as well get every adventage u can. in theory it makes sense i guess, but the gains don't match the theory like they should. i hope i said this all right.i am tired. i will probably just index the plugs. get the washers and mark the open side of the electrode at the base of the porcelan with a light mark, and put them in ,and make sure they are tight with mark facing the intake manifold, all the same.cool, i'm done i swear.
