Snow is coming soon; time to switch from CAI to short ram?

I'm a Michigander, and as such I experience some nasty winters due to lake effect snow. I'm wondering if I should change my Place Racing CAI setup to short ram with just the CAI midpipe, MAF, and the filter to avoid snow getting up in there.

Has snow/water in the filter (in the *true* CAI setup) ever been a problem for any members?? I'm curious as to what other members that live in snowy places do/don't do to their CAI setups...

I've gone thorough three winters with my CAI without any problems. I've driven through a lot of deep snow and no problems. I don't think snow could get in there.

hasnt been a problem for me yet, but I did put some grill mesh in where the fog light would be since I dont have them to try to restrict the amount of crap that can go near the filter. its been working well. and if your really worried just get an aem bypass valve.

I cant see snow getting there and if it gets close, its still near the engine so how could it pick up the snow without it being melted.. I could be wrong though... but I would be worried about a warm spring day after a snow fall... all that snow creates a whole lot of water.

actually i think Injen CAI has higher risks of sucking water/snow in, even though i have never heard of it happening. You should still go for the real CAI eBay or expensive brand name and don't let the hole drilling from stopping you!

Seems like there'd be more of a problem with water getting in there in the summer than snow in the winter.

Well for something to get into the wheel well with a CAI setup, it would have to defy gravity (since it gets most of its air from the bottom/side of the compartment), and snow can do that a heck of a lot easier than water can.

I can just easily visualize the snow getting blown up in the wheel well and since the filter is sucking in any air around it, it'll just suck up the snow too, but it seems that most people don't have a problem with it.

You must have some hell of a snow season up there then. I can see it happening but only when its fresh powder.

Yeah the snow can be pretty brutal up here and stays (in powder form) for at the very least two months, but that's not to say that the city doesn't take care of it by salting the roads.
Still, though, it doesn't take much water to damage the engine, and that's what I'm worried about.
