Re: Leaking at brake area

I'm leaking some kind of grease or oil at the break area... it might be my strut... but i'm not sure... it got all over my wheels too... my 4th gen is starting to get me mad... a bunch of problems with it.... but what are some signs of a strut leaking or maybe it's something else?!

HELP ME!

Is it the front? Could be CVs.

A leaking strut would be right around the top of the stut body were the piston goes into it.

If its a leaking strut it wouldnt be grease, it would be like motor oil but thinner.

Axles = CV joints.. check your boots and see if they are torn. If they are get them fixed as soon as you can. I had a friend who ran his Caravan with a bad axle and it snapped right at the joint.

Yeah sorry about that. I didn't see his post until after I posted. CVs=axles. You could get rebuilds from autozone for about $75 after core return. Raxles.com uses new joints (the part that wears out), but are $125 or $150 (don't remember which) after core. And then about an hours labor (~$50) or do it yourself with the instructions on motorvate (probably more than an hour for a non professional).

Which side? Auto? If pass side and auto I have an axle with 10K on it that I'll send to you. PM me if your interested. If you don't get it fixed there is a possibility that a rock will get stuck in the knuckle of the CV joint and then its gonna do some terrible stuff to your tranny.

Terran the price of labor depends on which side it is. The driver side can be done in about 15 minutes but the pass side is at least an hour. Especially with OEM y-pipe.

That's the quote I got back when mine were broken. Ended up doing it with a mechanic at work so I didn't pay that much for it.

So I'm guessing I should get it fixed ASAP?
How do i know for sure if it's a CV joint?
