the sensor that detects the engine/oil temp is busted. the gage moves very little after have been driven for over 30 mins freeway speeds. the hand is only pointing like 15% of the normal engine temp i have been use.. where is it? is it reachable/fixable. what degree of difficulty is the fix.. anyone know how much the sensor is ..thanks

That sensor detects coolant temp, not engine oil temp. Your thermostat is probably getting weak. Replace it and your engine will run at the proper temperature.

if the sensor measures coolant temp.. i dont see the connection between the thermostat and the sensor. if my thermostat were bad, i wouldnt i just be overheating alot. where is the sensor located?

your thermostat could be stuck OPEN instead of closed, allowing coolant to flow even when the engine is cold, which would explain why your engine doesn't seem to warm up.

the thermostat is on the front of the right cylinder head.
