Radio flickered out

The radio in my '96 I30 flickered out the other day and does not want to come back on. It's still getting power because I was able to eject my CD. If you try to put a CD in it won't let you and the DISC light blinks. If you hit the FM/AM button, no lights appear on the radio but you can hear the antenna motor - which sounds like it's extending, retracting, extending, retracting on and on for a few seconds.

Are there any diagnostics I could perform to figure out what could be the problem? If it's the radio, can I simply swap it out with another factory radio or does it have to be programmed?

Sincerely,
-Brad

i'm going to assume all i30's have bose. you need to read one of the stickies that deals with the bose problems. theres a resistor on the board that deals with the screen flickering in and out. its usually a bad solder point that needs to be melted down again. it usually fixes this sort of problem 90% of the time.

Thanks, I'll check on that. Oh, I want to clarify again that my radio doesn't come on - no lights and nothing from the speakers.

FYI, add the word "radio" to the sticky. It may help in the sticky search.

Regards,
-Brad

not sure about the problem to be honest. check some fuses to the amp or osmething. you can always swap it out for an aftermarket stereo with a hi-lo converter like i did.
