i think my struts are blown

every time i hit a little bump or any depression in the road i hear the car like sweeking and bumping around. its sounds like its falling apart. I think its the struts (tokio blues). i dk what else to think of.

when the car is parked, press down on each corner and see if the car comes back up and continues to oscillate, if it does the strut is blown. the squeaking might be something else, check if the struts are leaking as wel.

The previous owner probably didn't put spring isolators on when they lowered it. Check to see if there are little rubber sleeve things on the second coil from the top and bottom.

Yea its def the struts, i had the same exact problem, i heard a noise all the time when i went over bumps. i took it to a mechanic and all my struts were rusted up so i got new ones and now the noise is gone.

Look at the strut piston. If there is leaking around it that is a sure sign. There are many other things that can be wrong such as a broken upper strut mount or some meshed bushings. Just rip it apart and fix 'er up.

I would like more info on this as well... My car sounds like a wooden boat when I drive really slow. I have 2 noises that came up about the same time so I hope I can kill two birds with one stone. I get knocking when going slow over little tiny bumb that can barely be felt, and I get screeching when going over large bumps (like speed bumps). Can this be done myself or do I have to pay a mechanic another $9000. Somebody told me it could be a ball joint issue but I would like some more opinions. I think I'm just gonna hit the redline ever time I see a bump so I don't hear any noises

The knocking over the small bumps sounds like the upper strut mount. Make sure the center nuts on the struts are torqued correctly. I knew mine was bad when I couldn't tighten down the center nut. The flat section of the mount that holds the piston stationary was chewed away somehow. The noise over speedbumps is a simple fix. SLOW DOWN!

damn, exit10 you seems to be have a lot of trouble with your max ( I see all your posts) I hope all fixes well and inexpensively.

do the blown shock test and see if that is the problem. if so I guess it a good opportunity for new suspension.
