why do my h3 fogs keep blowing out?

as the title says, my fogs continously blow out. i thought maybe i did the rewire wrong, but i went and re traced my steps and everything is fine. i thought maybe it was because of the 100 watt bulbs, so i went to 55 watt, and still the same result. is water somehow getting in there to ruin the connection? i remember once having water in one of the connectors, but arent they designed so that doesnt happen? im hesitant to order h3 hids because of this problem. anyone have this happen to them?

Are you being VERY careful when handling the bulb? Any dirt/oil from your fingers will make the bulb blow out prematurely.

If you suspect water, do you have any kind of condensation during/after rain?

yes, i wear a pair of those rubber disposable gloves when i install any lights. and i havent checked for condensation, but havent noticed any when installing new bulbs. i noticed some in my cracked corner lights, yet those are still running strong...

i am missing those black tabs for the foglights, would that cause water to get back where its not supposed to?

Have you checked all the connectors to make sure they are keeping constant contact?

Do/did they both go out at the same time?

The black tabs just cover the exposed bolts so no worries there.

one will go out, then the other will follow shortly. i dunno what you mean by constant contact. there should be constant contact for the bulbs to be on the in the first place. when i take the bulb out, it's blown, so would not having constant contact cause the bulb to literally blow?

had that problem for along time...
get electric tape
peel back the rubber protector on the wire that connects to fog light...seperate the 2 seperate wires by wrapping each piece with electric tape as much as possible. most likely sumthing is touchin there

there is a write up on how to re-wire your fog lights so they work independently, but not to fix a problem with you foglight not working. check out the how-tos or the mods

yea alot of time time it is the exposed male and female connection where you plug the fog light into. The bulb is grounded on it base, and alot fo the time when you hit a bump the connection touches where the fog light is being grounded to which = a blown bulb.

do the electrical tape thing onthe iside of the fog light where metal is exposed.

not only where metal is exposed....but on the harness itself....just tape up the entire wire....the harness coming from car...not wires on bulb...... i tried everything else before and this is all that worked.

Sorry...just meant to make sure the other wires are connected (by using the electric tape method).
