my bro has a 2000 se with keyless entry, could i just see if my car will take his key code or are they even compatible anyway if they WERE both equipped

If it has the security light, then you most likely have the OEM security system, especially if it's an SE I think that was standard.

Just get a key fob for a 95-99 Maxima from someone and program it to your car to double check, they can always re-program it back to their own car. The 2000 key fob won't work.

You can also look at the write-up on adding a shock/glass sensor to the OEM alarm. It has pictures of the BCM (body control module) that sits underneath your radio. If you have that little box you definitely have the OEM alarm and keyless entry.

To check if your alarm is working:

1) Open Windows
2) Lock doors with key
3) Reach inside and unlock a door (any door)
4) Open door

If the alarm goes off then yes you have the factory alarm installed, key fobs are $20-$25 from ebay, I bought mine from there and it works fine, make sure seller has good feedback and you're good to go.

If the alarm thing in the trunk is unplugged you might wanna plug it in

PS: To shut the alarm off just use your key to lock/unlock the doors

no key because the previous owner broke it off inside the lock....has a different ignition key/switch

and yes, has the box on the rear passenger side of the trunk.....unplugged though...if the alarm was triggered, then there would be no way to shut it off
