Checking for exhaust leaks
Checking for exhaust leaks
I got a code 0302 and from what I read it may be because of an exhaust leak among other things. I think I may have an exhaust leak because when I got my Ypipe on it sounded like there is exhaust coming from the engine bay.
Any way...
How would I check for a leak myself?
Would it be better to take it to a shop? If so which one? Thanks
Oh! If anyone remembers how to search the org through google it would be helpful too. Thanks!

Take out a spark plug, any spark plug, and pour in a teaspoon or so of ATF in the hole. Put the plug back in, reconnect everything, lift the car, and start it up. Get under there and look for smoke.
Why dont you get someone to cover the muffler tip with their hand... if theres pressure to blow your hand away theres no leak if theres no pressure on your hand have the person cover the exhaust and stick your head under the car to listen for some leaks.
Run some seafoam through the intake manifold. Any exhaust leaks will have smoke coming from them.
If you are gonna ask what seafoam is, donate and do a search.
I don't know about putting your hand over the muffler. It would have to be a pretty big leak for there to be no pressure......if you do try that make sure the car is cold becaue you will burn your hand
