they should cover it...I would likely ask them to look for a used tranny and get that rebuilt

They will cover it but why? Most insurance companies will pay 80-85% of repairs of the total value. Again, why? A tranny costs $650-750 and your done. So if your debuctible is $500 its not worth the hassle or possible upped rate. What cracked? If the gearbox cracked then yes a new tranny is needed but if it was just the bellhousing, pop a new one on for like $200. WTF did you hit and how did you not destroy your bumper and front end? If you do go through them just get a check and do it yourself.

i don't know what i hit and whatever hit it chipped a decent size of a hole and leaked all the oil and i didn't find out about it till it started making alot of noise and after welding that hole now the oil leaks from where the flywheel and the clutch sit so i have melted seals plus the tranny wont go in first or second and it won't even go in the slot between them so i guess a f##ed up gear selector too so i figured it's my chance to upgrade to lsd which is 2100 i think only 300 more

Yes its a good time to upgrade but it certainly isn't $2100 if that is what you were saying. If you meant to write 2001 then yes that is the tranny you want(AE edition). I just snagged one with the matching axles for $850 w/ 21K. Good luck though. They are hard to find. Car-part.com doesn't have any.
