Who would be interested in making Hotshot headers...?

Who would be interested in making Hotshot headers...?

they already make headers for the VQ35DE's...and the sentra spec V guys rave about their quality...

they are close to where I live and I am hoping they will say yes to my proposal to use my car as a donor car to make a set...I would think they would just be a slight alteration of the 3.5L maxima headers...

trying to show them there is a viable market and demand for them...if they are good quality, show the gains, and are priced right...

I'd be very interested if they are shorties. I don't like this whole long tube BS. I know its better for several reasons but if you want long tube you might as well just get Cattman. I know the Stone Racing headers are shorties but they are ****. Definitely get them to ceramic coat them. Seems a lot of their products are just bare SS. Not cool.

BTW, I've seen some Hotshot headers on a Probe and Spec V. They were both bare SS but looked to be extremely good quality in the material and welding areas.

well they would be long tube...like the cattmans...(y pipe included) as seen on there VQ35DE headers....

I would prefer that...that way you would get the equal length tubing for that great sound! I could talk to them about shorties as well...

If they were equal length long tubes just a bit longer than Cattmans then yes, thats the only way I could see any significant improvements, I cant see much if any improvement on shorty headers on our cars.. look at the american guys.

well go to their site at look at their 3.5L maxima header pics:
http://www.hotshot.com/hotshotheaders/ns3017.html
they look just like the cattman's...only they are $600 bucks, not 800...

That makes no sense. The reason that the stone racing headers suck is because they are shorty headers, basically stock with a larger inside diameter. The cattman headers are really not long tube, longer than stock but not "long tube headers". So you want headers that don't make any power??

Cattman headers are shorty headers. This is what a set of true V6 long tubes look like:

Yes, we need true equal lenth long tube headers, I read you get good gains from it.

i would love a set of Hotshot headers. I had hotshot headers on my KA24DE on my S13 and they were perfect. if we could get hotshot headers that would be compatiable with the 99 cali cars i would be in. AS for cost is this going to be priced as much has the Cattman or cheaper?

Alright, I just don't like the design of the long ones I've seen. It just goes against my natural instinct I guess to have that circle in there. I guess if making them exactly equal length gives power then this is the way to go.

i am picky though, i really desire to buy quality products... and it will be hard to make them like cattmans without being any cheaper... and if they are like cattmans, and take the place with the y pipe, and they eventually crap out with bees or whatever, then you have to buy a new y pipe...

but if they are like stone racing, couldn't they just be paired with whatever y pipe you have? that way they would be cheaper, but they still wouldn't result in as much power right?

what a dilemma...

If they start to make noise, we can replace with a higher quality flex section.

the price would probably be the same as the 3.5L maximas ones they make right now...around $549 I would guess...that includes the y pipe section...I have personally seen the quality of the headers for many spec v's and one 2K2 maxima....amazing quality for the price...!!!

if you look on their site...the pic of the 3.5L maxima headers looks exactly like the cattman headers for our cars...which is interesting...I am thinking that is the optimal design that also fits well...

they definitely aren't long headers...but longer than stock and wider diameter...plus smoother inside and lighter than the stock exhaust manifolds...

I could ask about a long tube header design...

hotshot also makes a header's for The 93-00 Altimas. Everyone that has gotten them has no complaints about the header at all. They make a quality header.

You guys have to remember that the Hotshot headers for inline fours are long tube (LT) designs. The Cattman and Hotshot Maxima headers are shorties. They might have a couple inches in the primaries over stock, but that's it. An LT design will typically have 18 to 24" primaries. Shorty headers on a stock LS1/LT1 and Ford 4.6 will see about 5whp, much like we're seeing with the Cattman headers over a y-pipe. LT on these V8 cars typically see 25-35whp. My friend gained 32whp with the additional of LTs on his LS1. Long tubes are what they use on Nascar, drag cars, and F1 cars. No professional racer wastes thier time or money on shorties.....and for good reason.

It's a fact that the 5.5 gen owners are seeing great gains with the Cattman/Hotshot headers. It's also a fact that the headers get rid of the precats whereas the aftermarket y-pipes don't hence the reason the headers do so well. Don't expect the same gain as the 5.5 gen owners.

Call me pessimistic or a hater, but I don't understand why NA 4th gen owners are putting so much hope and faith into shorty headers for these cars. The track times and MPH don't show any measureable gains over a y-pipe.

would it be possible to make long headers for our cars? what would they have to do?

yeah, but on boosted max's...20whp over an aftermarket y pipe is common...

With just having removed a set cattman headers myself, I can't imagine it being possible to fit long tube headers in the space allowed. It would have to be a pretty dramatic design

I'd get em just for the sound if i had the money. Call me a ricer if you will. Blah blah blah. I think a V6 with a well tuned exhaust is one of the best sounding things ever. Just listen to V6 V-dub's with exhaust.

so...I talked more with Hotshot today...they are really busy this time of year and are closed the last week this month for the holiday's...however, they are having their chief mechanical engineer call me later today to discuss bringing my car in to have it checked out for fitment and design...and to tell me if it's possible...which I am sure it is...if cattman has done it...off the top of his head...he is guessing...$600 for a set just like their 5.5 gen maxima headers...however...in order to create headers for our cars....they might need 12 guarantee's from maxima owners here....that is if the headers looks very difficult to make and show no significant demand....they said the only way they will go through with them is if there is a good gain...(anyone in SOCAL have stock exhaust? so if they were to use your car for a prototype, they will see huge gains?) and if there is good demand....so this is where you guys come in....do me a favor and call Hotshot
(626)303-0076...telling them you want an alternate header option then cattman...to create some healthy competition...voice your need for support of the 4th gen maximas....(probably the largest base of maxima's which buy aftermarket parts!!!)

I wanna try to do this while I'm putting in my built engine next winter. Think it'll be done? Ha. I just called. I got a message but I let them know that I'm very interested although I will not be in a position to buy these before OCtober.

Hotshot headers already fit the 3.0

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....otshot+headers

the cattman 3.0 headers fit the 3.5, hence the hotshot 3.5 headers have been fitted to the 3.0

I hope when they won't need 12 committed buyers when they find it fits with minor modifications. Also, they should design the o2 bungs so it won't require extension sensor 1 on both banks

Wow i would really like to know how real equel lenght would fit on our cars ,i would be willing to cut to make them fit but others prob wouldnt .
How much would need to be cut?
Im sure the front is no problem i bet the rear prob needs alittle hammer action.

But i agree with dave stone racing, cattman power gains are really not there.

power gains meaning the peaks are not really that much higher?...or the power across the entire powerband as an average is not that much higher?

well I have '95....so hopefully they will just weld in the EGR connector on the rear manifold....for minimal charge...if none...

do you guys think the hotshot headers would sound similar to the cattmans....seeing as the design of each looks very, very simliar with the loop and everything...??

since they both are interchangeable between the 3.0 and 3.5 engines, yes I do believe the design is similar.

Cattman is a 4 piece design, HS is a 3 piece

(don't mind the arrows)

Yea but just a guesstimate would be nice... he did answer my question though... they're going to be about the same just cheaper... thats always a good thing as long as they're good quality.

I'd still like to see a company try to make equal length long tube headers... even though clearance is a huge issue, it would be nice to see someone atleast try.

I would really only be interested if they wre long tube, equal lenth headers. Other wise I don't see the point to install something that is gonna add about 5hp. The install, from what a I have read, is a pain in the azz.

All Hot shot would have to do is get the O2 sensor bungs a little different and an EGR connector. Then they would fit the VQ30.

Short tube headers are not going to show worthwhile gains. Long tube headers would be difficult to fit in our cramped engine bays. they would proabbly scrape the ground on lower cars too.

If you are boosted you should probably get 3" exhaust. If they made Long tube equal length High volume headers to a 3" exhaust then you would see massive gains for SC maximas.

hotshot will only make money if they make these longtube headers, for the simple fact no one else has longtubes for a 4thgen. And, they will make the most performance gains possible...

i prototyped stone racing headers. they arn't even headers. not equal length tubes. and basically ****ing worthless.
