How long due struts last??

My 1999 GLE has 152,xxx and has not had the shocks / struts replaced. How long do these last? I think I am feeling bumps and pot holes more but maybe I'm just mental. Should I have them replaced? What type/ brand should I replace them with? I don't want to lower it or do anything like that. I want a ride at least as good as stock, if not better.

Is this a DIY project or should I bring it to a shop. I have limited nechanical ability. If I bring it to a shop what should I expect to pay. I live in Atlanta so if there are any locals that can recommend a shop that would be great.

TIA

There's no set time table on how long they last. Take them and get the checked out.

If have limited mechanical experience, I would not do the install since you'd need to use a spring compressor.

Yea, theres no exact life expectancy for struts. Depends on your driving really.
But I suppose tokico blues are good enough if your stickin with stock springs.

you can get the spring compressor from any autozone, napa, pep boys.....it really isn't too bad, especially if you have an air wrench

i did mine and it took about 4 hours one saturday, the first side took the longest since i wasn't using the air wrench; but it is still do-able with just a socket wrench...it'll just take you a while

just get a haynes manual

Put a set of Tokico Blue performance struts in and your car will ride better then stock. They are basically an OEM replacement unit, but their valved slightly different giving you a more stable, smooth ride.

the old way to test your shocks.struts is to push down on the car and if it bounces up and down, they're going.
