Bad input shaft bearing?

Bad input shaft bearing?
I have a 97 SE 5-speed with 76k on it. I recently noticed what seems to be a noise coming from the drive train. While coasting in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gears the noise appears loudest - if I depress the clutch, the noise goes away. A local transmission shop told my mechanic that these cars are prone to bad input shaft bearings. Has anyone experienced this around this mileage. Any ballbark ideas about what is costs to fix?

I had bad input bearings on my 96 at about 105k miles. Similar sounds to what you heard... The noise would go away when I pressed the clutch. Also, when the engine was running, car in neutral and the clutch released i would reach into the engine bay and put my fingers on the clutch release fork and could actually feel it vibrate.
I pulled the tranny and replaced the bearing myself. only cost a few bucks for the bearing from Nissan. i checked the diff bearings too but they were good. Put it all back together and I'm not at 120k (15k on the new bearings) and it's running great. I paid a total of about $200, but that included the bearing, axle seals, input seal, crank seal, permatex, cv boot kits and $40 to the machine shop who fixed the input shaft after I nicked the seal surface with my dremel trying to cut off the ruined bearing...
