knock sensors and EGR control solenoids
Question about knock sensors, I remember someone saying that knock sensors are extremely fragile. Well, I am replacing mine and accidentally dropped it from about stomach high. There is a decent amount of plastic/rubber in the housing but wasn't sure if I screwed it up with such an impact. Any thoughts?
I have a CEL and Code 1005 which is the EGR Control Solenoid. Anyone do this repair? About how much did it cost for the part?
Thanks.

I have this same code 1005 on my 99 Max GXE 3 days ago. To make sure if the EGR valve is bad, I erased the code with information I found on web. I checked all wiring harness, connector, and vacuum tubes that connect and attach to the valve (simply CAREFULLY unplug then plug). I have been driving my car for 2 days already and have yet seen the code again. One thing that I learned from several Maxima groups is that ever taking your car to dealer if you can do it yourself. Most technicians will not spend time to narrow down the problem. Once they read the code, they would recommend to replace part without doing further trouble-shooting. My case, the dealer want to charge $140 for the new EGR valve + $150 labor (99 Maxima uses new EGR valve device differs than 95-98 model even it is a same 4th generation, EGR solenoid/valve for 95-98 is about $80). For example with flashcode 1005, they are supposed to find out whether the problem caused by loosen wiring, faulty harness, or clogged vacuum tube. Same with o2 oxygen sensor, they need to check electrical wiring harness and measure the resistance on sensor before replacing it.
