Fog lights ...

I did a search and all I could come up with is people saying where to get them ...

Well, I want to put foglights in my car. How hard is it to install the factory headlights when it did not originally come with that option? Aprox. how many hours and how big of a PITA is it?

Thank you

I say once you have everything you need. Put aside a Saturday or Sunday, and get to work (if you know what you doing).

so your max didnt come with fogs? if your lucky you might have the wires down there, if not, get all the things you need, and you could probably wire them up to a toggle and it would take no longer than 2-3 hours if you knew even a little bit about wiring..... just keep looking, im sure that theres a write up somewhere on here....

I installed the factory fog lamps into my GXE about a month ago. First things first, you need to check to see if your Maxima is pre-wired for the installation. You can simply look underneath the front bumper by the the signal lights (right and left)...the wire is attached with a grey tape to the amber signal wires...you can either remove the signal lamps to check or look underneath the bumper. The other way to check if your car is pre-wired is to open up the steering column housing...there you should find a white plug taped with grey tape.

I have the actual fol lamp kit number for the Nissan kit (at home). I will check to see and respond back the kit number.

Also, the installation for the pre-wired factory fog lamps is straight forward...but, it does take some time and care to get things right and tight.

You may have to wait till night to do the aiming...the adjustment screw to aim the light is on the back of each light...to aim, the best thing that worked for me was to un-install each light and work the screw to a position, then install each light loose to check the aim and the beam. Once aimed correctly, re-install each light and screw them tight.

Good luck.

When I put mine on a couple years ago I bought the kit from Courtesy. I think it was only $180 when I bought it though. Its real easy as long as your car is prewired.

Jinni, why are you installing fogs if you are selling your car? or is your CD site old?

Yeah, I was going to sell it ... I haven't updated my CD site yet ... I was going to buy a 2002, buy I didn't want the payments hehe So I just have to take that down.
I am going to just mod the hell out of my car and keep it forever.

(Seriously ... after I get the new engine put in it, it will be brand new pretty much, so I'll drive it for another 10 years. No car payment = extra shopping money)

At least you got your priorities straight regarding the shopping money. God forbid a new car cramping down on your shopping spree.

See I never had a girl drive the distance for me???

She'd need a new stalk for the light switch. Does the kit include that or would she have to buy the separate?

97 perfectly good running max (other than a few small things) = Insurance.

2k2 = $230 / month plus insurance = $386.54 / month (I have a poor record)

An extra $400 a month is nice for modding! I could have a turbo on it in no time.

From what it says on the box, it is the complete kit ... everything that I would need the harness and all. I will look at it when I get home and post all that is included. Maybe that will get some more info And also ... how do I tell if my damn car was pre wired? ***EDIT: N/M oceancrest67 already posted how to tell.. thank you! *** I doubt it since it is a bone stock (No wing, sunroof and I have the Hubs)

if you look in the hole for the fog lights, and look around to see if there is a plug for fogs, should look like any other harness/plugs for the car. hopefully you do and that will save you HOURS.....

Same here. I could be paying $275 /month on a new '05 Pathfinder but I'm holding off til next year or later. I'm selling my condo for a house in a nicer side of town. I can use $400 a month extra.
