catbacks once again

The muffler on my 99 is starting to rattle and make noises so I been catback shopping. I know catbacks really don't do much for hp/ performance, I already have a budget y for that (I'm cali spec by the way). So performance i don't really care and I want a little bit of noise but nothing really loud or ricey. From what I read the greddy sp2 seems to be the way to go, but it's just not feasable for me to spend $500 on exhaust. I was looking at spending around $300. The choices seem to be Obx, meghan racing or pacesetter. From what I understand, obx has poor fitment, meghan is ricey and pacesetter rots. Just wanted to see what opinions are out there on these, and if anyone has any sound clips and knows where theyre sold the cheapest. thanks
Jason

Dynomax superturbo and a custom resonated B-pipe would fit the bill. That's what I got. Should cost you less than $200 total.

I like it. Along with the y-pipe it is defintely louder than stock, but not bad. I love the growl at wot.

Go custom with a resonator and a good muffler... I see no reason to spend money on a Greddy or anything else when your not looking for noise.

Is there a specific superturbo muffler you used? Do you have a part number or specs on it? what size exhaust did you go with?

i believe he was talking about the dynomax super turbo... i have a clone of it and a resonated b-pipe from WSP... i love the sound of it... i don't have a y-pipe yet... but i wouldn't mind it getting any louder...

i wish the exhaust had more quality, but honesly who sees it? it should still last a fair amount of years with it being alumidized... its WAY cheaper to just get a pipe ran from your cat to the muffler and have a resonator welded in... same gains, cheaper price...

sounds promising. Eff Greddy. I wouldn't mind saving myself a couple bills. So i can just grab a dynomax, my warpspeed ypipe, and take it to a shop and have them make me a custom resonated b pipe? Are we talking about midas/meineke or a mom and pop's shop?

been looking at greddy forever, but 500 is a bit, considering im at the end of my modding days

F*** meineke... well i guess i should say why huh? i had them put in my WSP exhaust and they lied about not being able to get my o2 sensor out to try and get me to buy another for like $140.00... and the put a pipe in backwards which rendered clanking and a UNcentered tip...

very unsatisfied...

Don't go to chains for anything more than an oil change (even that's pushin' it).

I just went to yahoo yellow pages and typed in exhaust or something then picked a bunch that looked like they were dedicated exhaust shops so they could do the custom work. Then called around to them. I ended up paying $110. I probably could have done better, but I was SOOOOOOO sick of my loud a$$ muffler-less exhaust.

You could also ask for recommendations in the regional forum if you are someplace with a number of members around. I would have done that if I lived in boston or something.

Edit- Oh yeah, plus $50 for the muffler I bought off summit. I still haven't gotten a tip for it...anybody have any suggestions for something that's not too big and not too expensive, but shiny .

What about a Cattman exhaust? You can buy them in two seperate sections at CustomMaxima.com the muffler section (includes B-pipe I think) goes for $325. I don't know the story with Cattman exhaust's though.

Nope. Catback cattman (B-pipe and muffler) is $600 from cattman.com. BIG bucks.

Just the muffler is $300 from cattman.com.
