starting problem

i used to have the same problem... couldnt figure it out for a while.. until i changed the intake manifold collector gasket cuz it looked bad and oil soaked... it helped... but do some investigation for urself... like a tune up for starters... oh and by the way if u are running low on gas ( like less then a quarter tank) the car (at least mine and my buddies) doesnt like to start at first... good luck

Check the resistance of the engine coolant temp sensor. There is a table in the shop manual that gives proper resistance readings for given temperatures. Make sure your throttle body is clean, and check the adjustment and operation of the cold idle plunger and linkage. The Haynes manual has a good write up on how to check and adjust the cold idle linkage as well as the temperature/resistance table for the engine coolant temp sensor.
