Suggestions on where and how to mount Sirius

I just recieved a Sirius for a Christmas present. I have a 99 GXE. The set-up looks like it will be bulky but I have heard a lot of people have good thinkgs to say about Sirius. I have an Alpine CDA-9825. The Alpine is supposed to be compatible with the Sirius or X-FM radio. I read the Alpine manual and it still seems like you need the bulky Sirius receiver and mount. I don't want them to drill into my dash to secure the mount. I seems it's going to be in the way, no matter where it goes...I am almost tempted to just take it back. I can't decide where to put it, or how to have it installed. A friend mentioned getting industrial strenght velcro to attach the mount. Does anyone have Sirius, and what are your suggestions?

Depending on what Sirius receiver you went with, some have a suction cup mount like a radar detector.

Ok, I am guessing you are talking about the add-on receiver and antenna. You should have about 20 ft of cable to go from the receiver to the dash player, and another 20 feet from the antenna to the sirius receiver.

I put the receiver in the trunk. I reccommend putting it on the back seat wall at the end of the trunk, or on the right side of the trunk under the fabric.

Some people on the forum have put the antenna on the trunk, and some have put it on the back roof above the window.

I put mine on the roof, but will be moving it to the trunklid.
I also put my receiver on the left side under the carpet, but will be mounting it at the far back of the trunk. I would have put it between the rear deck speakers, but there is not enough room to mount it with the trunk rods. ( at least I decided not to.)

DSCO,

Thanks...Yes, actually Circuit City will do the install. I was thinking about the trunk for the location of the atenna, as well. Let me make sure I understand correctly. You are saying in addition to the atenna I could also have the Sirius reciever mounted in the trunk and the wire run up to my Alpine unit? Thank you and anyone else for your input

okay,

It turns out that my Alpine system CDA-9825 is already set up for Sirius. All i needed was a component, and antenna. The component is installed inside the dash...it's hidden. The Alpine headunit acts as the receiver. Well, this is great because I won't need the Sirius reciever with it's akward looking mount.
