Burnt headlight harness

I had upgraded my bulbs a couple of months ago and recently one of the harnesses burnt up. Now I need to upgrade the harness. If i get the harness that has a new socket and 12 gauge wiring, I can connect directly to stock wires...correct?

I read the 9004 to 9007 conversion how- to. Yet, I'm still a little confused. If I wanted to, could i get the harness with the three 12 gauge wires, switch the low and ground wires and thats it?

Any suggestions would help. Thanx

"Matrix" sells an upgraded wire harness...I had it on my 3rd gen. It does have better light output.

I have the silverstars in my headlights, and PIAA crystal ion fogs.....I couldnt be happier. Very great output.

I dont know first hand what melts first; the connector or the thin wires. I personally wouldnt buy new pig tails and connect them straight to the stock wires while staying with over watt bulbs. It just doesnt make sence. I found some really nice pig tails at Advanced Auto. The wires are thick, well insulated and the plastic connector is rather nice. If you wanna simply spice into the stock wires with a new pig tail then STAY with STOCK wattage bulbs.

Well, the connector is what melted in my car. Why wouldn't it work if i splice into the stock wires? then the connector would last.

Where did you get the Matrix harness and did you splice into stock wiring? where did you ground to?

it plugs into your stock connector. It will come with 2 relays, 2 grounds, power, and singal wires.

Since my headlight harness isn't a true upgrade, just basically 12" guage wires connected straight into the oem wires, I did the re-ground mod that kevlo911 did to his maxima many moons ago and many others did it with very good results. If interested, read this thread. What an improvement....I was able to see more of the road now!!! The beams are more intense!!! I had to readjust the headlights again so I don't blind oncoming traffic. I'm pretty happy with the way this project turned out.

I found this in the how to's. This is what I am talking about, just looking for feedback from others if it will work. I have too many things feeding off my battery and I don't want to add more (this is why i don't want to get the other harness you have mentioned.)
