getting terrrible gas mileage
help today i filled up and i have 158miles and i filled up 9.4 gallons...i did the math out and i got 16mpg these are all city miles!!! not good....what could it be?? for the most part i keep the fan on 2, i warm my car up for like 5-10 min (remote start), i don't usally floor it, but it happens sometimes umm other than that i didn't really do anything else to the car....ohh ya i use 93 octane and i always try to fill up at 1/2 tank.

also its winter time so the gas is a different kind (oxygenated) so it will burn noticably worse in all cars. i am around the same milage, as well i had the same milage last year during the winter but during the summer i was around 20 mpg. Im gona try to replace my knock sensor eventually and see if that makes any difference but i dont really expect it to.

damn, im in the same boat. i got around 90,000 and on a full tank i barely get 280 miles. i was getting almost 300 miles earlier this year. car seems to idle a little harder than before too. the only good thing is, the car accelerates much faster. could it be the engine is eating up more gas to give me more power? and why would it be doing this all of a sudden?
also, isnt it better to warm up the car for a couple of minutes or until idle hits around 1000 rpm so the engine will run smoother?

In regards to warming up the car during winter, do what you normally do. If you've been idling your car for years without problem, than stick with it. I let my car warm up a bit before I move my car.

Do you all use regular grade gas or the "recommended" premium?

I consistently get 27mpg in my '95 SE 5spd. I got 30mpg on one trip were I had to keep it down around 55-60mph. Glad I didn't buy an automatic! Still, less than 20mpg seems really bad; are you guys gunning it at every stoplight and expressway on-ramp? Driving style can have a lot to do with fuel economy. Just a thought.

oh **** not another gas mileage thread....
take into account alot of things that affect gas mileage... tire pressure, recent tune up, winter gas, gas filter, alignment.. etc.
I'm lucky if I get 14mpg city... but I have a bad 02 which isnt really bad... but for some reason my ECU thinks it is and its triggering my knock sensor giving me sh!tty gas mileage
