just replaced fuel filter.. what a a nice diff.

i just replaced my old fuel filter with a new purolator one and see a nice quicker throttle response. im guessing mine was clogged up, since i only had the max for 3,000 miles now. and i was wondering is the purolator filter good considering it wasnt on the stickies? i know this is the wrong section to post, but just wanted evry1 to know that i felt a diff. if any1 has used this filter, any downsides?

thanx

DcMan check the ECU for codes as well as the Knock Sensor and the oxygen sensors, usually they are the ones to cause bad MPG

YES! just changed mine to a Purolator last week, has a plastic yellow top. The old filter had BLACK fuel comming out of it when it dripped onto a clean paper towel. Now it is BETTER by FAR.

A Nissan dealership maybe. It is kind of expensive but better than the ones at autozone. Puralator seems like it is ok. Get a 300zx filter unless you have ABS and no room to fit it.

i have abs and got the 300ZX filter to fit rather easily with not too much force.

The feeling of a new fuel filter is amazing, I put in the 300ZX fileter a many many miles ago, and everything felt better, Idle was better, responce, acceleration, it was sweet. . . dont feel it anymore got used to it.

I need to replace my fuel filter this week also. If I get the fuel filter for a 300ZX, which year should I ask for....a 96? (since I own a 96 max). Does it even make a differenc whether its a 300ZX filter or not? Anyway, how much do they cost and does autozone sell good ones?

You get one guess as to whether a clogged filter would help or hurt anything.

My only guess is that a clogged filter delivers less gas, hence less gas to burn that results in lower power ... nothing sort of fuel wastage or unburnt fuel ... isn't the engine burning less gas at a given time with a clogged filter ?!?

I thought he was refering to the fact that it's not just the 1996 300zx fuel filter that will work...that other years will work as well.

what I was saying, bro, is that if he went online, and searched for part numbers, etc., he could use the 1990-1996 normally aspirated or twin turbo engines and get the same fuel filter. Yes, I read YOUR post, and felt I should clarify.

I think I remember reading that the normal FF made for 95-99 Maxima's can go 15k miles, when the z32 FF can go 30k.

By the way, I'm very excited to change mine out, I don't know the last time it was changed out, so hopefully it will be a noticable difference.
