New Timing Chain Tensioner

I was just looking at the service bulletin for replacing the timing chain tensioner.....am I reading it right that it's like a 7 hour job?! Has anyone else had to get this done? To try to explain what mine sounds like...I'de have to say that it sounds as if the chain is constantly rubbing/rattling against a metal cover...almost sounds like a noisey blender with marbles in it(not that i've heard that before... but something like that)
How much has it cost you guys to have this done?
Thanks!
Josh

Look man, it's super easy to do. Try more like 25 minutes and forget all that 7 hour nonsense. Slide your hand down the side of the timing cover and remove the 4 little bolts that hold the little black timing cover access panel on. Remove two more bolts that hold in the tensioner and carefully remove the old part. Keep the pin wedged in the new tensioner until you have it securely in place then remove the pin and the plunger will snap against the chain guide. Clean off the old gasket from the inside of the cover and reapply a gasket maker andcarefully fit it back on there and install the 4 bolts again. Cake! But, be careful when you have it all apart because it is very easy to drop things inside the timing cover. I reccommend stuffing a rag or something in there to block the passage into the bottom of the hole. Hope I helped & good luck! When you are all done you are going to laugh at how easy it was. Peace!

I can't believe its that damn easy, HAHA! .

My car makes that noise as well but only on start up, for about 2 seconds on a regular day, about 5 seconds on a cold day. Then it just goes away. From what I understand that's the sign to look for that the chain's tensioner is on its way out.

For the last couple of years mine has just done it a bit on startup.....especially when cold out.....now it's constant.
